Who We Are
ELEUSINA – ARTS AND CULTURE AMKE was established in April 2024 to meet the need for a body that will deal with the Arts and Culture in Elefsina.
The partners are 15 people of different ages, professions and qualities. The company was established immediately after the end of the year of ELEUSINA – CULTURAL HERO OF EUROPE 2023 in order to contribute to the continuation of the cultural development of the city and to avoid a period of “stagnation”.
We want to create as many opportunities as possible for all those who wish to engage in the widest possible range of artistic events and activities.
The purpose of the Society is non-profit and aims at collective and social benefit through cultural, cultural, artistic and educational activities.
Theatre, cinema, music, dance, painting, sculpture, photography, literature, all the arts are at the centre of our attention.
We want to create conditions and a framework for the promotion of the work of creators, mainly young people, in all areas of cultural expression.
We will create a Research and Study Centre for the history and tradition of the wider region and work for the protection of monuments and relics. We will actively participate in the creation of cultural nuclei in underdeveloped and/or undeveloped areas, as well as in groups of migrants – refugees with the perspective of their transformation into cultural centres.
We want to run a non-profit publishing business.
We want to help in the utilization of existing and future buildings and spaces, contributing to their transformation, for the realization of events and generally for the promotion of the Society’s objectives.
Our focus is on the protection of the environment, while we seek to contribute to the completion of an Urban Plan for the area, which will be the basis for sustainable development.
We wish to engage in joint activities with associations, organisations, public or private institutions and companies, educational institutions, educational organisations at local, regional, national and international level.
The 15 members of the AMC have contributed a start-up sum of money, but will also seek income from events, publications, donations, grants, contributions, contributions, subsidies from national or international organisations, the European Union, private or public foundations and any other national or international fund or organisation.
The Company, as a non-profit company, is not allowed to distribute any profits to the partners, nor is any remuneration provided for its Managers.
The resources of the Company are used for the furtherance of its purpose and for its operating expenses.
The Company is not closed for new partners, and of course we look forward to many friends besides the Partners.
Already “ELEUSINA – ART & CULTURE” has been registered in the register of Cultural Institutions of the Ministry of Culture.
Why do we need an organization like "Elefsina - Arts & Culture"?
In 2023 Elefsina was the European Capital of Culture. It left behind traces of important events that attracted thousands of visitors to our city, but also the feeling that the majority of Elefsina residents did not participate in the processes and many of the events of the Cultural Capital. Τ 2024 found the city with a significant building stock for cultural uses, but, for the time being, unprepared and unused (with exceptions). The important thing is to see these buildings developed and the intangible heritage of the Cultural. To see institutions of people – actions that will hold high the flag of Culture and Arts. To see economic and social development of Elefsina with tourism and culture as its axes. THE “ELEFSINA – ARTS & CULTURE” is active in exactly this direction.
